PromptShelf — Privacy Policy

PromptShelf is a Chrome extension that lets you save and search prompts and AI replies from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity.

What data PromptShelf collects

None. PromptShelf does not collect, transmit, or sell any user data to any server. There is no backend, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind.

What PromptShelf stores, and where

When you save a prompt, PromptShelf stores the text you selected, the platform it came from, the page title, the page URL, and the time it was saved — using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API. This data is stored entirely on your own device, inside your own browser profile. It never leaves your computer, and the developer of PromptShelf has no access to it.

Permissions PromptShelf uses, and why

• storage — to save your prompts locally on your device.
• contextMenus — to add the "Save to PromptShelf" right-click option.
• Host access to chatgpt.com, chat.openai.com, claude.ai, gemini.google.com, and www.perplexity.ai — so PromptShelf can detect which platform a saved prompt came from, and show a small on-page confirmation ("Saved to PromptShelf") after a successful save. PromptShelf does not read, monitor, or transmit anything else from these pages.

Uninstalling

Removing the extension deletes all locally stored data along with it. Nothing persists anywhere else, because nothing was ever sent anywhere else.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same URL with a new "last updated" date.
